ffffuuuucccckkkk

Started a little hard leaving Dan's last night. Then I stopped for gas and it was bumpstart only. You know where I'll be tonight - in the garage, madly trying to get the GS working before Rockerbox, same as every year....

The ffffuuuucccckkkk has been turned into a yyyyeeeessss!!!!

The problem was one Dave with his IT background will know well: was it plugged in? See this GS is a custom job and some backyard hack mounted the fuse panel on the rear fender which floats on rubber bushings except for one little bolt that threads into a nut welded to the rear subframe. Said weld cracked, leaving a shitty ground from the fuse panel to the rest of the bike. I credit Dennie with noticing this first when we did our Oatmeal Funeral Run. He noticed the taillight on the GS flickering at times. As far as my memory serves that's when the bike began to start hard.

Anyhow, I JB welded the nut back on for now and ran a proper ground strap from the fuse panel to the frame. The bike is now holding a charge, starting fine and hey, the lights are a little brighter too. Imagine that.

Cheers!
I have about a years worth of experience bump starting a GS, they just had to remove the kickstarter.
