If i had a million dollars.....

...i would buy me an RC30. But if any of you have 30-35k  you can have this one.

The latest find

From a shed in Reeseville, WI
Turns over with good compression, and super cheap.
It's getting harder to ignore the bike under the tarp in the back of the garage...

A bad feeling and a nice GS

I was considering taking some parts to sell at the above mentioned swap...glad I listened to the little voice telling me not to.

On the road again

New clutch plates and cable, less sketchy tires.

Went real nice on a run out to Dan's tonight.

Amazing how fast a fella moves on repairs when the alternative is bikeless.

Upside Down

Good riddance

Three muther fucking master cylinders on the front end...Honda are you serious. Thank god the new front end will have one MC and a single line to each caliper..cant imagine how fun it would be to bleed the above linked system.

Hell on Wheels

This has been on a couple sites (including FTWCO), it looks like fun. I think I'd rather do something like this than Born Free anyday... California envy.

Breath of fresh air

No photoshop work here. What you see is what i saw when I pulled the air filter. Airbox de-snorkeled, PAIR valve disabled and man can it really breath now. Its like a whole new bike from 1K-7K!

If I'm not mistaken,

One of us here has a Triumph project.
This is a cool blog from Japan, all triumph. They just do things right, so inspiring... Triumpher "blog

Toast

Had a spark plug come loose on I-94, sounded like a truck's engine brakes. The plug blew out pulling the threads out of the head along with it.

A photo down the offending plug tube.  To me it looks something like a robotic chameleon's eye.

Because the plug tubes are so deep and the motor is a stressed member, the whole thing has to be dropped off the frame to get anywhere near being able to tap and helicoil.  So I am left with some options:

1. Bike becomes modern art in one of the flower beds
2. Bike is pushed off the Tenney Park breakwater into Lake Mendota
3. In the night, I trade my VFR for Dan's hoping he won't notice
4. The boring option - sell or part the VFR and buy one of these. You know, with the 75K I keep in my account in the Caymans.

Nervous Breakdown...

Ben, riding alone without a care in the world...
Doh... Hot evening, hot motor, difficult to do roadside repairs...
Courteous motorcycle enthusiast NOT stopping to offer a hand (no one did)
Sent Ben on his way with the AAA folks, big suck. Aaron and I made the 2nd half.
There was a crash where a dude got run over at a pretty good clip, he was ok, but is going to be mighty sore and probably bruised up.
The guy who owned this bike is awesome. He races in the "classics" class. Pre 1981, singles, 250-400 cc. Domt let the old, ratty bikes fool you, these guys race hard, super gnarley.
"You cant take red-necks anywhere.." A. Fischer. Quad race, fender bender, race stops and the dudes got into a fist fight on the track! One of the races must have done something stupid, even dudes came running from off the track to get in some blows...

Mandles, Resin, and reliability...

After 10 years, still farting around with that old GS...
Every summer, no matter what bike I have, it breaks down. This summer is no exception. My wifes CL350 has NEVER let me down.
This beer is waaaaaaaaay tp strong to be sipping on at 11:00pm.

Good day...

....are days like this. Its the small things like a DVD to keep my mind occupied and daydreaming about coming home and hanging out with my friends, dog, and last and absolutely not least...my wife. It just makes things normal for a minute, I'm not sure if that makes sense to most. Anyway...definitely worth watching 6OVER. I was pretty happy that the box with it and the GKM made it all the way over to this side of the world. The other odd "Living on the Edge" DVD came in a care package from Wisconsin. Pretty cheesy...and I watched as much as I could until I was bored which was about 15 minutes in, but I was stoked that these dudes made this video and sent it overseas.

In all seriousness

to Aarons post below. This looks fun as shit.
Snagged this pic from Aarons link...

A friend sent me this link. Racing 125s on a go kart track, and it looks like they just put street tires on the 21"front. Looks fun and cheap. http://s721.photobucket.com/albums/ww217/mnmrosen/Sugar%20River%20Supermotard/ Here's the link to the track: www.sugarriverraceway.com/

Fuel to the fire....

This post is being lifted from Sideblog...
With the help of a couple friends, this guy from Oregon raced a 1972 Honda SL350 to TWO class wins at the Mexican 1000, the second year not only did he win his class but finished eight overall for motorcycles. Not bad for a 40 year old bike! He also competed in local enduro events, flat track races, and even trials. Many, many pages of stories and build descriptons on ADV, they like to document over there... Building the bike and leading up the first Mexican 1000: ADV-link 1 The second year, learn from mistakes, make improvements, etc: ADV-link 2 Really inspiring! On the fence, Patrick has put the bug in my ear for his XL125, seems they have a class for that in Hare Scrambles, which looks fun. But building an old 350 would be rad...

SL350 practice from Storm Rock Films on Vimeo.

Stick with it until the 1:35 mark. Good shit... This is a wiki link to Hare Scrambles. There are aprox eight or ten events in WI, IL, and MI over the season. Classes are pretty specific, which is good, then you can be an old dude with zero experience on a weird old bike and still be kinda competitive with peers.

Fee-fi-fo-fum

Scored these choice bits from one of our summer kids at work today. All for a small handful of magic beans.

A T500 flat tracker????  Time will tell.

Omens, Signs, and Superstitions...

You all think I'm a hippy already anyways, so what dif does it make anymore? Leaving for work this morning, less than a block from my house I saw this feather on the road. Turned around and picked it up. It's gonna be back in the breeze again. Feathers are powerful and sacred to many people, I think they're kinda cool.
Then at lunch, I was heading to the grocery store and on of all places- hwy 51 (stoughton road) I see this wheel. I know it's only one, but you can't let a wheel go by and not risk your neck to get it, right? Dave will appreciate that it does not even have a flat spot. I'll incorporate it on my bike somehow.
More work came in my door today than in the past six months. Suddenly I'm on the verge of panic busy. It hit 115 degrees in my shop today and we have three solid more months of this. time to figure something out...
