I am working on a logo design for a neighborhood grocer in Madison and wanted a period look from the "good ole days". Being that my reference library is rather small I called up a letterhead friend of mine, Mike Meyer, from northern MN to see if he had any old ads he could fax over or email...this was Tuesday. At about 5:30 today I got call from him saying "Im staring at the Grumpy Troll sign, where the hell are you?" Needless to say he made a 6 hr trip to drop off what many would call "old gold" in the sign world. So honored and thankful. This man is a living legend in our small world and quite the character...very very good people! 

This is the stash he dropped off..I could spend days studying these, fucking amazing stuff that you never see anymore...all done by hand

The phrase "doing a line" brings immediate thoughts to differnt people depending on if you like to do drugs, creating artwork, or in my case...ride a skateboard. "Doing a line" in skateboarding is linking multiple difficult tricks in a row. When I think of a skateboarder who has that nailed, I think of Dennis Busenitz. Or as I like to call him, These nutz or Biz snatch, I'm not sure why. I skated with him about 10 years ago and the dude is amazing.

Just another manic monday

if you ever wonder what Dan looks like in slo mo

was running a test of FPS to see how it handles slo mo for my upcoming movie/short film project.  This clip was filmed at 24 frames per second.  For decent slo mo you need at least 60 fps.  Suuuuper high end cameras can go much, much higher.

Pre-production work has already begun on the film.  You all (that means the Lost Cause boys, Primordial, DPR et all...) have a place in it and all will be needed for it.  No speaking roles, in fact, helmets (with tinted visors, (unless on a chopper)) will be on at all times (except for a scene where Dave and I skate and jump ramp over his or my bike Animal Chin style). Details and story boards will be emerging soon enough, but it will feature choppers, dirt bikes, super motos, street fighters, dirty vintage bikes, fire works, guns, violence/blood, hippys, greasers, beer cans, and action.  All under three and one half minutes...
