Damn good time with damn good friends. Thanks Tommy for getting our asses out of town for a weekend and congrats on the film.

this is an exciting motorcycle...

I don't know that I really want an adventure bike, but I'm excited that this will exist.
So many of all vehicles produced right now are made of image, bad compromises, and marketing bullshit, squished together in a mold shaped by focus groups of unskilled consumers. I'm just desperate to see signs of purpose, knowledge, and intelligent thought.
If you think about why adventure bikes exist, most of the offerings don't make any sense. They have dirt looks with no dirt ability. This new africa twin looks like they actually tried to build a large two cylinder dirt bike.
The parallel twin engine keeps the engine weight located about where it would be with a single. It's SOHC, so maybe it's a little like two CRF450 engines? 270 degree crank, so delivers it's power and sounds like a 90 degree v twin.
It comes with a 21" front wheel!
The exhaust appears to be routed next to the engine, higher than the frame rails, so the skid plate can actually be used.
1000cc is big, but at least it reverses the trend of 1200cc and 1300cc engines in bikes that weigh too much.
It's heavy, but it's a little less heavy than the others.

I think this might actually work well on the planet I live on.
