Vicious
Since I've been banned from posting art here, I'll stick to motorcycles, skateboarding, beer, dogs and music. This video has most of those things. And maybe a little art too.

YOU WILL BE KILLED BY ROBOTS!!!
Tom, your sign is right! At least it is if you're traveling between Italy and China, and a cloud happens to pass over just as you're passing this solar robot driven car... I can't believe they'd let this on a public road.

The job of ultimate manliness.
Go to this link and check out a video of the new coolest job on the planet. Oh, you're a cosmonaut? Oh you're Steve McQueen? That's nice. I'm a motorcycle firefighter, and I'll be leaving with your women now.

thoughts...
So the GS's battery goes dead now whenever the bike sits. This started happening on the last day of the BBC rally after a rainstorm the night before. What could possibly be draining power when the ignition is off? I tested the ignition key switch and it's fine. The battery is good - sealed and brand new 3 months ago. Unless of course it got toasted by a bad R/R, which I am checking as soon as I get some time...but how would the R/R drain power with the ignition off?
Anyone have any ideas?
On the upside, I spoke with a guy from Leakproof today and he's sending a set of replacement fork seals for free...
In the meantime, all these gremlins with the old GS have got me thinking about how nice it would be to have a dependable modern bike to take on the longer rides. I think something like this would do:
Minus the huge mirrors, rear fender and stock exhaust, of course...

Just for Dave
Some documentation of drunkenness just for Dave - me taking a beer piss in the world's scariest home-made galvanized steel urinal, about 4am Sunday morning at the BBC rally.

you would think that this place served delicious breakfast, instead it was just an ok lunch...
Trav's nice 74 xs650. He has it tuned and it's tight.

GT
I saw one of these in traffic on the way to work today:
So boss. I wonder if it has the latch system for baby seats? Because I'll be a grandpa by the time I can afford one (if ever) and I'll need something to haul grandchildren around in style...

roller derby cow spots, 2010 round II
Thanks to the Dairyland Dolls for the opportunity to spot a bunch more helmets this year. This is the second round so far this summer, and it's always a fun gig.

Yeah, this write up is pretty much right on, except for the part about not wanting low 1/4 mile times--what? Way to lose the plot, but yeah, this bike is stupid.

Milwaukee
These engines have the head and engine block as a single piece to handle high compression ratios and methanol. The valves have to be installed through the bottom of the engine through the piston holes, followed by pistons, rods and crank.
The Uihlein Special, seen below and in the background of the above photo. Uihlein was the owner of the Schlitz brewery. This racer has a single taillight and a license plate on the back, and just enough room to give cute girls rides in Dad's historic race car.

I still like 'em, even if the engineers didn't think of the mechanics.

Purple Rain, Purple Rain
Tom went a little nuts when we were hanging out at Aaron's shop tonight and welded a big old padded sissy bar to his Yamaha:
Maybe he is working toward a re-creation of the Purple Rain bike, trying to do it real slow so no one notices...

time flies
A few shots of my pop and his motorcycles circa 1969-1970.
Yamaha YA-6 125cc roadside repair - he used to carry a spare piston and necessary tools after melting a hole in a piston, which apparently was a common problem with these.
Check out the sweet metalflake helmet laying in the grass. How much are the trendy fuckers paying for those these days?
Lookin' tough on a Yamaha YM-1 305cc twin with home made fairing.
