Helmet reviews are so "in" right now
Suomy rules. A 6 year old helmet loses one of the top vents, and they replace both vents, shipped to my door in 2 days, no charge. Also a stern warning about retiring the helmet due to breakdown of eva foam over time blah blah blah.....
I am a Suomy customer for life, or until they give me shitty customer service.
Von Dutch...not the clothing designer
I ran across this rare interview with Von Dutch where he talks about the beginning of the modern pinstripe style. Its debatable as to whether he or "the Baron" originated what we now know as pinstriping but Von Dutch is the man either way...and quite the character. Too bad his own daughters sold his namesake and logo to the same douchey guy who does those hideous Ed Hardy designs. Its quite ironic that his legacy, for most of the uneducated, is now related to trucker hats and over-priced t-shirts...he is rolling in his grave thats for sure!
Heres a link to a few cool pics and an article about Kenny Howard AKA Von Dutch

As my pal Ronald McDonald would say...
...I'm lovin' it.
If the "Man" would stop making me work so much I would have some time to put together and put up some new original content.

Fly Trekker DS
Honestly, it's the best looking DS helmet I've seen, for whatever that's worth. It's about the same price, Tom. I was kind of hoping you'd try this one too and let me know. No idea when I'll have a hunnert to drop on a new helmet. Hopefully this summer, but...
Red Fang
Is nice enough to stream the new record.
Murder the Mountains
It's pretty good. Kinda has a Mastodon vibe, more produced than their ep, but that's to be expected as they are becoming rock stars...
Worth a listen anyways...

Helmet review...AFX FX39
So last sunday I ordered the AFX FX39 dualsport helmet, I cant stand having a trend pass me by without participating...
For those who know me, the know I am probably the cheapest mother fucker on the planet, some of this comes from years of being a starving artist and not really having any money at all, and some comes from my great depression style upbringing. This helmet was priced nice at $114.00 + 6.00 bucks shipping. It also comes with mixed reviews, but I have a tendency to skip over the negative reviews if I really want something, sort of pretend they are not even there.
So Friday I get home from work and mr. mailman left me a package! Awesome!
I rush inside and rip open the box and pull out the beautiful looking helmet. Upon first inspection it seems tight, not super light, but not a tank either, looks good. Then I put it on. As quickly as I put it on, I pulled it off and shoved it back in the box. This helmet is the biggest piece of shit I have ever had the misfortune of stuffing my bean in. In the morning it will be promptly sent back. AFX FX-39 get two gigantic thumbs down. Ill fitting, terrible padding, in the two seconds it was on it was obviuos the venting sucked as it instantly steamed up.
My six year old $99.00 Z1 helmet is ten times the helmet of this pos.
I realize I am blowing my opportunity for a AFX endorsement by writing this, but fuck this company, fuck them to h e double hockey sticks.
Thank you for letting me rant.

Funeral ride
I was thinking about Tom and Dave's predicament with carrying skateboards on their motorcycles. Solution: leave the bike at home and ride one of these. The bleachblond highlights are mandatory, but please wear a shirt. No one needs that kind of a glare on the highway.

Tom, look how much you wife's bike is worth! Of course you will have to take off a couple hundred for the dented headlight bucket.

Good news for me, I hope...
"We get people coming in here all the time who say, 'I can weld,'" says Denis Gimbel, human-resources manager at Lehigh Heavy Forge Corp., of Bethlehem, Pa., whose products include parts for ships. "Well, my grandmother could weld." He needs people who understand the intricacies of $1 million lathes and other metal-shaping equipment.

Ducati
Stopped at Motorcycle Performance today and bought a battery for my Duc (the last non-sealed battery in the shop--for a bargain price). Ended up taking my DR over there because Bill seemed confident he could get the bolt out of the head without me taking the head off. Took these pics of Bill's turbo Ducati drag bike, which will become a normally-aspirated nitro bike in the future.

SCR Spring 2011
Hungover, cold as hell, WINDY as hell, hungry, and tired, but I managed to make it to the Slimey Crud Run yesterday. I know, stop whining. It was challenging riding with sport bike dudes and I have changed my bike up enough to make it feel weird and its going to take a minute to get used too, but I managed the ride. I wanted to bring my HD video camera and get some riding shots, but I forgot it. Here are a few picks anyway...
Rough necks at the SCR movie night. |
DB trying to get fresh with me after the movie. |
Looking down Atwood after the movie. |
Yesterday at the actual run. Alot of work put into the molding on this Beezer. Not really my style... I want the FXR behind it though. |
I've always been a fan of the Ducati MH900e. |
Another view. |

KTM fighter. I like this bike alot... |
This is for Ben. This was pretty nutz. Turbo charged CB750. |
