The VFR lives, sort of. Idles, roughy and rumble, but just falls asleep when the throttle turns. The internet tells me these VFRs don't like corn in their booze and they don't like to sit either, and I need to clean up the carbs.
ouch! Perhaps try running some sea foam through it before pulling the carbs? I hear the corn theory often, not sure how I feel about it. this wouldn't have anything to do with the fuel pump? No way.. This sucks..
I ended up putting the fuel pump back on. Without it, fuel just pours out of the carb overflows. Another indication that maybe the carbs need service. But I will try the seafoam and see how it goes.

Clean the carbs carefully. Check the diaphragms, that's what it sounds like.
