Because 10th anniversary trips with your wife cost a lot and trump pretty much everything else, and because my hopes of having a bike ready for a 3000 mile ride in three weeks are dwindling fast, I am downsizing my expectations to something like this:
This should be a long weekend 4 day trip....avoiding interstates, camping when possible. The ride across Lake Michigan should be interesting. If anyone wants to join me, let's talk.

By the way, this would be sometime in the first two weeks of May.
The lake express or Badger ferry's are a kick-ass experience. Looks like a great route!
Ben,
If you have not already traveled down the West coast of Michigan to the ferry (through Petoskey, Charleviox, Leland, Northport, Traverse City and M-22 - also you should check out Cross Village and theLegs Inn bar and grille. The road south to Harbor Springs form Cross village is EPIC - the best road in the lower part of the state) I would highly recomend it verses the Eastern side of the mitten.
You may have a partner here...gotta peruse the schedule. I have to ration my trips for the summer so we'll see how it goes over.
Thanks for the tips Diesel! I have a buddy to visit in Bay City, but maybe I can alter the route some to check out the west coast.
And Dan, hope you can make it!
might I add, that even though four days may not be of Homer's proportions, it still looks to be a helluva trip!
Also, I agree with Diesel, the west coast of MI is amazing (but always remember the golden rule...'Bro's before beaches...')
How are you bringing your long boards?
Bolt on some wheels and they double nicely as beer trailers.
Ben I live in Bay City, and I'm interested in this most rightous journey, I'll be watching for more info.
Hi there Mr. BadZero. I will keep you posted on whether I ever get finished building this bike or not.
