With the help of a couple friends, this guy from Oregon raced a 1972 Honda SL350 to TWO class wins at the Mexican 1000, the second year not only did he win his class but finished eight overall for motorcycles. Not bad for a 40 year old bike! He also competed in local enduro events, flat track races, and even trials. Many, many pages of stories and build descriptons on ADV, they like to document over there... On the fence, Patrick has put the bug in my ear for his XL125, seems they have a class for that in Hare Scrambles, which looks fun. But building an old 350 would be rad...

Stick with it until the 1:35 mark. Good shit... This is a wiki link to Hare Scrambles. There are aprox eight or ten events in WI, IL, and MI over the season. Classes are pretty specific, which is good, then you can be an old dude with zero experience on a weird old bike and still be kinda competitive with peers.
