From the heart
Dear VFR,
I'm trying not to hate you. I'm trying to get back to that magical place we were, when you were so good and right for me. And it's getting better. I no longer want to park you on top of a campfire or push you into Lake Mendota at sunset.
I'm trying not to blame you for stranding me on I-94 and missing the short track races. I'm trying to direct that scorn at the piece of shit PO who cross threaded your spark plug, and at your current owner for not noticing this until it was too late.
Maybe after the thread repair kit I ordered shows up and works effortlessly to repair you, I will be able to embrace you again. I can't promise I'll change, because I won't. I'll still expect you to carry me and all my stuff everywhere. I'll still curse at you and abuse you, especially when you give me trouble. But I can promise I'll ride the fuck out of you until I break you again.
Yours...
Ben
p.s. You look great naked.

Dos Piston Rojo race, 2013.
needs a shit ton of work. No spark, possibly bad points? My guess is simply bad wiring as it was simplified to the point of non existence (set up to run battery-less). Will source a new or used harness, hopefully unmolested, as well as a small battery. The petcock is totally fucked as well. New chain and back tire, but will get it fired up before that stuff. Kicking it over reveals great compression. Uno Piston Rojo?

new digs
just about everything is great except my internet. I have it, but it's horribly slow (took almost two hours to upload these two photos!) Other than that, it's all about unpacking now.
Basement skate park.
Probably not his new permanent home, but this is where he landed...

Herbie and beak less roosters
I was fortunate enough to get a chance to get out of my current environment for a couple days and go up to Heidelberg Germany to a conference. There was a catch. I had to brief a room full of high ranking officers. I was willing to deal with "the suck" just to get this chance...because it just so happened my daughter was back in Germany visiting friends. I haven't seen her for a couple of years due to military life. After my first day of the conference, I drove an hour and a half to head over to Ramstein/Landstuhl to pick her up and spend a few hours together. I averaged 115mph on the Autobahn and made it there in no time. It was pretty epic. We had some dinner and hung out and laughed at people...just like old times, but time ran short and I had to get up early so I headed back to the Heidelberg area later that night. The second day I gave my short brief to the officers in the afternoon and went downtown Heidelberg to check it out afterwards. Probably the most beautiful place I've ever been...and I was able to have a few beers. Here is das pictures.
No sign of Dean Jones or Lindsay Lohan...
Enjoying some looooong brats...
I was a little nervous when this crew of rough necks came rolling through...Heidelberg segway gang.
Night cap...fresh pretzel and Hefenweizen
I returned back to my deployment today and stopped to pick these up enroute from the airport. The locals pay less attention to detail and given instructions than normal people in the states do in my opinion. I've noticed a pattern here, and this is just one example. There is velcro on the back though I told them not to put velcro on it, the border was done in white though I asked for black, and this version of the rooster is completely beak less tough they had a picture to work off of. My barracks roommate said maybe the rooster is looking right at you in this version.
