the Ripper may be laughing

on the outside...

but the techni-color yawn pile of wires, bad coils (new ones being ordered today...), and lack of time make him cry on the inside....

It just doesn't get any better

If a Dos Piston Rojo shop ever becomes reality, one of these should be in it.

Speak of the devil...

...we were just talking about the upcoming zombie-clypse and I do believe I was tooting my horn about having the ideal bike, well Im not the only who feels that way.

Heres a great short read about about our, sometimes, forgotten soldier the DR650

Surf N' Turf

I used to skate here as a kid during its second resurgence whenever my Mom would drive to Milwaukee and drop me off for the day here...still love to see old footage of it. This was a great part from Streets on Fire...
I hacked through the spring like a beaver with a rusty tooth...

Not cooperating in the going back together department.
COuld I possibly get a spring the length I need with flat ends at madison spring?
Seems nobody makes a 9.5 or even a 10" shock. pussies.

Went to play with my bike yesterday to discover something horrible has happened within my electrical system. I turn the key on and instantly fry the main 15a fuse. New and mysterious issue to say the least. (though not surprising by the looks of the rat chewed harness. Gonna gut it and re-wire next up.)

fun fun.

need your help/ideas/input

I would like to make a pair of these. Spring struts.

to buy them they are $150.00 and they are eye to eye. I need eye to clevis and I don't have an extra $150.00 clams. I do however have a couple of spare pairs of eye to clevis shocks. Do you think this is something that collectively we could build? I know with all the welders in the crew we could bang out some nice struts, but to incorporate a spring? please help me, I'm desperate.

Sometimes when you ask for an inch...

....you get a foot!

Being a bargain hunter I have found that its rare when you run into A) a actual good deal and B) a deal with someone as generous as the gentleman I bought this lid from. I just paid for the helmet and got the helmet, a pair of Spy and ESS goggles a bunch of cool stickers to add some more clutter to my paint cabinet with. Heres a link to a blog I believe he contributes to...nice shit!

Wheres the next gas station

Inside of the tank is in great shape, just a little surface rust but what a whore-bitch it is to weld!

In the evening

Sometimes this little guy helps me out:

Slowly but surely. I am confident the bike will be finished at about the same time as Pyongyang hosts an Olympics. If not sooner.

about once a year

I get a little Scrambler itch.

One of these years it's gonna be hard to scratch...

DPR or die

Some amazing work done by Jayme at Blue Moon Kustoms to hang in our DPR shop...well at least in my house until we get some shop space possibly someday.

Rolling hills, stinky cheese and dirt

Tom was with us in spirit.

In your absence Dave, we've resorted to riding with people who look like you.

Gratuitous babbling brook shot

....and BTW, Hwy 78 from Gratiot to Mount Horeb kicks fucking ass!

Briggs and Honda

and the end of the world.

Still a long way to go, but blasted it around the block a few times this afternoon. If you look close you will see my custom, state of the art Briggs and Stratton gas valve, that shit's working like a champ. No gas leakage yet, time will tell. So far the new, old, not made for my bike coils seem to be working as well.
Bike needs: complete re-wiring
brakes (it has absolutely zero brakes..)
new seat (same concept, just cleaner, less holes)
mini spedo
brass balls, cuz this bad mamba jambo got some git up an go.
The carbs will need adjustment (gak)
(edit to say: sorry about the shitty, shaky video, i blame the camera and NOT the beers)

Really Top Notch Socks

I believe that was the wording Patrick used to define the smell of Limburger cheese. He and I manned up and split a sandwich. It wasn't bad, but had a peculiar aftertase that, for me, built over the ride home into a good strong case of heartburn. Limburger is not nearly as bad as all the hype, but I can't say I'd seek it out either.

In other news, the GS is now terrifying in the twisties. The knobs are coming off.

Merch

Sometimes...

...we bite off more than we can chew.

Last night's lesson is that it is not that hard to fuck your, imported and not easy to find CBR250RR, wheel in the ass...HARD! Good news is that it still holds air and with Jay's help we were able to beat into submission as what you see above is at least 75% better than it was. Believe it or not but this was the tire bead that did the damage when trying to stretch that last bit over the rim...was NOT the spoon! During the ride home there was zero noticeable difference so i guess it could be worse.

T.W.A.T.

Last weekend, Patrick gave me the skinny on the Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail - the green part of the map. It's a documented path from Dubuque to the Apostle Islands on scenic pavement, gravel and ATV trails. I wanna ride it, as soon as I have bike that's more dirt-worthy.

Notes from the winter shop

It's that time of the year again, a mad rush to put together a wire harness and get a bike on the road...except it's not a mad rush, gets easier every time. Note how everything is labeled and I'm only drinking one beer at a time. As I've said before, the Honda factory wiring is a dream to work with, someone really thought it out. Totally easy to modify and move components around the bike without completely rebuilding the harness.

Also, my latest sewing project - finally found a home for that patch you gave me, Dave.

555

The crew who rode the 555 a couple of years ago (TN to Portland OR and back on motorcycles that cost less than $500.00, less than 500 cc and 1975 or older) did it again, only this time went through central America into South America. On a 74 HONDA XL 250 and a 75 HONDA XL350. Looks like they did a nice job journalizing the adventure.

read about these young'un's with little to no responsibility here

Black Widow

Would not at all mind getting my hands on one of these someday:

Here's Jimi playing the guitar version:

March is....

...seeming to come in a lamb and leave like a lamb here in Wisconsin. Friday is calling for highs in the 70's so I think its about time to get our group of  half-wits on the road for a ride. Lets get our shite together and go for a ride next weekend, something short and doable...whaddya say people?
